Lord of the Flies Setting

In Lord of the Flies the setting is on an island during or after World War II. "Didn't you hear what the pilot said? About the atom bomb?" (Golding 14). this quote hints toward World War II when it mentions an atom bomb and on the back of the book it mentions the second World War. The book takes place on an island, or what they know of so far of an island. Ralph climbed on a rock to get a good look and he thought it was an island, and they made it to a lagoon on a beach that was full of fish and shells. "'I climbed a rock,' said Ralph slowly, 'and I think this is an island'" (Golding 14).
