The book I recently finished reading is called Airborn. Its about a poor teenage boy, Matt whos father was a worker on an air ship and his job was to walk around on the outside and repair the shell of the ship but one day he was killed when he fell off the ship when his rope snapped. Ever since the day that his father died, Matt wanted to work like his dad and started working on the same ship that his dad worked on. This ship was hired to carry people from one point to another and Matt has a very low ranking job. When he was working one day he met a rich girl his same age who was very intelligent that he liked and she wanted to know more about flying and the sky and had Matt tell her about it and they eventually became good friends.

On one day on their voyage the ship was attacked by a group of pirates, and it was damaged badly. as they started to go down they saw an island on the horizon and steered toward it. by the time they got to the island and landed to repair it they didnt have enough hydrium (the gas that they use to make the ships able to float) to be able to lift off again so they dug in on the island and had to wait for help. As Matt started to look around the island they discovered strange animals (the creatures looked like bats but they flew very high into the air) that no one has ever seen before and Kate, who was interested in them, wanted to follow one that couldnt fly. as they followed it they stumbled upon the town that the pirates built as a place that they could stay without the danger of being found. the pirates chased after them but they out ran them and hid in a cave. In the cave Matt found a hole in the back that was leaking hydrium and told the crew. they took pipes and ran them from the ship to the cave and started to fill the ship. they threw everything over the side to lighten the ship and eventually started to lift off.

Fat Boy Chronicles

I just finished reading Fat Boy Chronicles. It was a good book overall that taught that if you keep trying and dont give up you will succeed, in this case it was an obese boy that was being teased and he was very determined to lose weight after he went to his doctor and he said that if he doesnt lose weight or get healthier then he will be obese for the rest of his life. throughout the book Jimmy kept on losing weight and journaling for his class. the journalhelped jimmy overall by helping nto show him what he needs to do and all of the progress that he made throughout the year. Jimmys goal was to lose 60lbs and by the end of the book he had reached his goal and was very proud of himself.

Fat Boy Chronicles

My book is Fat Boy Chronicles. It is about a boy at high school who gets teased about his weight and has other problems in school. The book is based on a real person and this persons name was Doug, but is Jimmy in the story, and he went to Mason which is my same school so I can relate with some of his experiences here and understand him better than if it was someone from a different school. In the story he describes different places around the school and I can tell where these places are and it helps me see it better.

Jimmy describes himself going to his friends house and his friend wanted to go to a party that Jimmy didn't want to go to. Eventually Jimmy was convinced by his friend to go to the party. when Jimmy get to the party there is alot of drinking and drugs at the party. When he starts to walk around he sees a girl at the party that he liked and she was drinking. After the party he didn't view her as attractive as he did before.

Fat Boy Chronicles

I am reading Fat Boy Chronicles. In my book the setting is in a high school with a fat boy named Jimmy, the entire book is journal entries in Jimmies journal that he has to write in for his English class. So far his journals are about his problems in school with bullying and situations with other people. The boy that the book is based on is from the Mason High school so I can relate because we are students of the same high school. The author was a co-author with the boy from Mason that is using this as way to stop bullying by sharing what he had experienced in high school. I can see some of the things that jimmy sees going on that he writes in his journal going on around me and the book really makes it stand out more for me.

Blogger Final

Click here to view my best blog post.  In my best blog post I did the character catagory. I picked the two main feuding characters to concentrate on in my post. These two characters were complex and they changed alot because of eachother in the book. They started out disliking one another but eventually it changes them and their personalities. throughout the book Ralph maintains the leadership position better than Jack but in the book Jack thinks of Ralph as unworthy and they never agree with one another. In my post I used a quote from Jack that shows how he was mean to the kids on the island and how he was changing the tides of him and Jack as leaders through the entire book.
The goals I have for next trimester is that I want to work on my reading habits to try and get better at reading more often and not have it be such a hassle. With writing I want to be able to think faster and write whats on my mind on the paper faster instead of having to reword it when I go to write it down. This year I didn't read many times but when I did i would read alot because I had to do my blog, so next trimester i want to start reading more often. With writing I want to get better at making my sentences better and not repeating words and sounding unintelligent.

Lord of the Flies: Analysis

The setting of Lord of the Flies is on an island that they crashed on. "We're on an island. We've been on the mountaintop and seen water all round,"(Golding 32). I can conclude that the character Jack in the story is someone who thinks of themselves as much better than everyone else because of the way he marches up at the beginning of the book and automatically thinks he is in charge of everyone, but he eventually sees that he isn't and begins to want to be in charge and he gets mad at Ralph,"'Choir! Stand still!' Wearily obedient, the choir huddled into line and stood there swaying in the sun."(Golding 20).

Lord of the Flies: Characters

Over the course of my book the characters haven't changed a lot personality wise but with their relations with each other. There is a group of choir students that follow a person named Jack, he wants to hunt for the group and he thinks he is in charge but the rest of the people want Ralph in charge. When Jack catches his first pig on page 70 but he left the signal fire and stopped them from getting rescued to go hunt. After that he thought that because of that he controlled everyone and he used it as a way to bully the other kids "'You would, would you? Fatty!' Ralph made a step forward and Jack smacked Piggy's head." This Picture is from the scene in the movie with Jack and Ralph.
