In my opinion this is a very good book but you would have to like this theme. The author has very good characterization and word choices, they describe everything in good detail that needs description but they use just the right amount and don't use detail obsessively. The book is about a group of kids that crash on an island in a plane and have little experience in the wild so they have to try and survive on their own without the help of adults.
Is this book anything like Hatchet? It also reminds me in English class, we talked about archetypal setting this is a perfect example.
